The ASC 2022 conference was held in Dublin from September 19 to 22 and its aims was to enhance the understanding of marine ecosystems and securing the benefits that people derive from them. For that, seven interrelated scientific priorities were addressed: Ecosystem science, Impacts of human activities, Observation and exploration, Emerging techniques and technologies, Seafood production, Conservation and management science, and Sea and society. SusTunTech has presented its route optimization framework within the Emerging techniques and technologies, specifically in the session called “Processing and interpreting big data using machine learning: Acoustic, optic, and other observations in marine research”. This session focused on exploring machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques to process and interpret large data sets efficiently and effectively for fisheries and ecosystem science. Thus, presentations on emerging technologies and technical advances like SusTunTech framework were selected for oral presentations. The SusTunTech presentation focused on the potential use of decision support systems with the aim of enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and safety of fisheries by helping skipper in the fishing strategy planning.
