Dr. Fernandes has participated and presented work of SusTunTech on digitalizing vessels and converting them in data providing platforms for modelling.  Temperature, currents velocity and acoustic data gathering potential by fishing vessels is of interest to improve climate, weather and early warning system. This is a first workshop within a longer-term strategy for increasing the supply of tuna for domestic consumption in all 14 countries as an adaptation to minimise the risks to citizens of Pacific Island countries with tuna-dependent economies that are highly vulnerable to climate-driven redistribution of tuna.
